Receptions and events
• Throughout March, the gallery at the Village Artisans Cooperative will feature a special show of work by community artists and members entitled “The Lion and the Lamb.” The exhibit contains a variety of pieces in various media that explore the traditional March lion-lamb dichotomy.
• The YS Arts Council will present “What Deals Have You Made With Your Dreams: Work by Ira Beryl Brukner,” through April 13. Open gallery hours are Wednesdays–Sundays, 1–4 p.m.
• The YS Arts Council will hold a second open critique session on Friday, March 28, 2–4 p.m., at the YSAC Community Gallery. Visual artists are invited to bring up to two finished or unfinished pieces of their art for a group critiquing session. • The Yellow Springs Arts Council announces a new series of concerts for 2014. The two-hour concerts will focus on songs written by village residents. The purpose is to increase interest and development of the craft of songwriting in the village. The YSAC Community Gallery will host the shows on the first Saturday of each month, beginning April 5, with treats by local baker Chrissy Cruz at 7 p.m. and music from 8–10 p.m. The first concert will feature Carl Schumaucher, along with “Charlie-From-The-Web” and Tony Powers. Suggested donation is $4. Songwriters with an hour or more of material who are interested in future performances should contact “Charlie-From-the-Web” at 720-934-6831 or nufrends@earthlink.net.
• Through the end of April, the Winds Cafe will host an exhibition by Libby Rudolf, “Watercolors: Color and Light.” The exhibition is in honor of Libby’s sister-in-law Vanessa, who died last year, and 20 percent of the art sale proceeds will benefit Dayton Children’s Hospital. An artist’s reception will be held on Sunday, March 30, 4–6 p.m., at the Winds.

• The Glen Helen Atrium Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition by Bellbrook artist Andrea Starkey, “Numbered — Moku Hanga,” which is on display through April 29.
Call for submissions
• While the new hotel is being built at the corner of Xenia Avenue and Limestone Street, the construction site will be hidden from view behind wooden panels, which will be decorated with a temporary art gallery. This spring, a series of 42 panels will be installed above the fence that currently circles the property, and they will remain on display through the fall. YSAC is looking for artists to decorate the panels and businesses and organizations to sponsor them.
