Villagers Lori Askeland and Sarah Jones put on a pro-choice rally last Friday in Kieth’s Alley behind Xenia Avenue to protest state and federal efforts to limit abortion and reproductive choice.

“It’s not just abortion. The spectrum of reproductive rights and the ability of women to protect their health is threatened,” Jones said.

“The alley is where we’re going to end up if these bills pass,” said Askeland, referring in part to the so-called Heartbeat Bill, House Bill 125, which earlier this year passed the Ohio House of Representatives. Federal legislative challenges to Roe versus Wade are also making their way through Congress, Askeland added.

WAY TO GO! This is so important as so many current politicians are voting out womens’ rights each minute. Even basics like Birth Control and testing are being threatened; the same conservatives don’t want a “Welfare Society” but refuse to support free and/or inexpensive womens’ health care….that’s where it STARTS! NO MORE BACK ALLEYS! So sorry I couldn’t make the event–Be proud for staging it!
