  • Mills Lawn School’s Project Peace— Kids learn to make art, not war

    At the beginning of the school year, Mills Lawn principal Matt Housh and school counselor John Gudgel got together to discuss their school-wide goals for the year. Number one on Gudgel’s list was addressing the issue of bullying, which he defines as “ongoing, intentional behavior to cause physical or emotional harm.”

  • Mills Lawn kids tip hats to 1940s

    The Albert Brown Show, Mills Lawn Elementary School’s biennial all-school musical, will be performed on Friday, Dec. 14, and Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. at the Paul Robeson Cultural and Performing Arts Center on the Central State University campus.     The silly laughs and sensational songs heard on 1940s radio will be re-performed live in the Mills Lawn biennial all-school musical, The Albert Brown Show, featuring some of the era’s comedy routines, music and dance numbers and celebrity knockoffs.

  • A Monumental Event!

    Last Friday was the Mills Lawn Spelling Bee. There were 21 students involved and they all did a fantastic job! Congrats to all of them!

    Mills Lawn School was teeming last Friday with mascaraed, robed and loinclothed sixth graders who presented the fruits of their studies at the annual Egypt night, Thursday, Nov. 15.

    Yesterday wasn’t the best day for a parade but the staff and kids at Mills Lawn School were able to squeeze in a short and sweet one between the rain drops.

  • At Mills Lawn, inquiry is king

    The new buzzword in the Yellow Springs School District this school year is “inquiry-based learning,” and at Mills Lawn Elementary School the effort to guide learning around student interest and problem-solving is already under way.
