Sea Dogs start season with a splash

The Yellow Springs Sea Dogs had their first two meets last week. The team swam well and had plenty of fun. The first meet was a home meet at the village’s very own Gaunt Park Pool on June 15th. We swam against Beavercreek’s Green Valley Gators. High scorer for the Sea Dogs was Aman Ngqakayi with three firsts in the 50 fly, breast and 100 individual medley.

Results of the June 15th meet for the girls events were: 6 and under, Sehla Grif- fin, second, 25-meter back; Gabrielle Perkins, third, 25 free; 8 years old and under, Peyton Gray, third, 25 back; Jude Meekin, second, 25 breast; Carson Haught, second, 25 free; Jude Meekin, third, 25 free; 9–10, Emma Reed, first, 25 fly, 50 free, second, 100 IM; Evalynn Orme, first, 25 free; Sara Zendlovitz, second, 25 breast; Aza Hurwitz, third, 25 free; and Maleah Gillman-Baggett, third, 25 back. For girls 11–12, Charlotte Walkey, second, 50 back, third, 50 breast; and Amanda Perkins, third, 50 free; for 13–14, Rachele Orme, first, 50 free, third, 100 free; Michaela Roe, second, 50 breast, third, 50 free; Rachel Meyer, second, 50 fly; Zoey McKinley, third, 50 breast, 50 fly; Micah Lindsey, third, 100 IM; Mychael Roberts, third, 50 back; for 15–18, Mary Adeline Lewis, first, 50 back, 50 free, second, 100 IM; Olivia Ramage, second, 50 breast, third, 50 free; and Mariah Nichols, second, 50 free.

Results for the boys events were 6 and under, Sam Lewis, third, 25 free; 8 and under, Isaiah Crawford, first, 25 breast, second, 25 back, third, 25 free; Mason Lindsey, third, 25 back; Jackson Bleything, third, 25 breast; 9–10, Fisher Lewis, first, 25 breast, second, 100 IM, 25 back; David Walker, second, 25 fly, 25 free; Tony Marinelli, second, 25 breast; William Gregor, 25 breast, 50 free; 11–12: Aman Ngqakayi, first, 100 IM, 50 fly, 50 breast; Theron Orme, first, 50 free, third, 50 fly, 100 IM; Jeffery Crawford, first, 50 back; Youssef Reed, second, 50 free, 50 breast; Gabe Trillana, second, 50 back; Hayden Orme, third, 50 breast; Nathan Gillman-Baggett, third, 100 free. Ngqakayi, T. Orme, H. Orme, Nathan Gillman-Baggett earned first in the 200 medley relay; Ngqakayi, Gillman- Baggett, Reed, T. Orme were first, free relay. In the 13–14 group, Fielding Lewis was first, 50 breast, 50 free.

Our second meet was an away meet against the Waynesville Blue Dolphins. This meet was June 17th at the Wright State University Pool. High scorers for the Sea Dogs were Rachel Meyer, Rachele Orme and Aman Ngqakayi, each with three first places in individual events.
