I hope the committee looks at the costs of other facilities. YS folks, even those with money, are frugal; they won’t pay a lot for a new facility just because it’s new if they can do better at the Y. They aren’t yuppies with money to burn on prestige. I think Antioch is expecting the village to finance much of its rebirth, but we’ve paid too much already; we’ve paid by its death, we’ve all donated to its purchase by the alumni…a village of 4,000+ can only do so much. And please don’t forget those seniors, who for YEARS have exercised in the shallow end of the pool….Many of whom will not have $500 a year for a pool membership. I think a survey might be wise before Antioch goes thinking we’re all willing to pay that much. Think before you jump into the deep end, folks.
