Before breaking for the holidays, students at Mills Lawn collected and delivered food for those in need. On Wednesday they shuttled boxes filled with beans, pasta, peanut butter and more, all collected in the classroom, to the Yellow Springs Methodist church food pantry.

According to kindergarten teacher Becky Brunsman, the students organized the food collection after learning that some local families may not have enough to eat this holiday season.

“There was an article in the paper about the huge demand and lack of resources at the pantry and the kids just stepped up,” Brunsman said.
