Barbara Jane “Babs” Bullen

Barbara Jane Bullen died Monday, Aug. 1, at Greenewood Manor. She was 86.

She was born September 4, 1924, in Yellow Springs, Ohio the daughter of Ralph and Mildred (Rienwald) Figgins.

Barbara graduated from John Bryan High School in Yellow Springs, where she was a cheerleader. She worked with her husband in his family operated restaurant, Dick and Tom’s in Yellow Springs for many years. She was very familyoriented.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and four sisters and brothers: JoAnn (Sherm) Noyes, Marty (Dale) Poorman, Kay (Grimmy) Grimshaw and Don (Fran) Figgins.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard E. Bullen, whom she married June 21, 1942, as well as six children: Judith (Steve) Emig of Spokane, Wash., Dick Jr. (Barb) Bullen of Dallas, Ore., David (Diana) Bullen of Portland, Ore., Patti (Sam) Walden of Xenia, Barb (David) Puckett of Jamestown and Barry (Cindy) Bullen of Vancouver, Wash. She is also survived by sister Carol (John) Contestable of S.C., as well as 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends will be held Thursday, Aug. 4, 5–7 p.m. at McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia. She will be interred in Glen Forest Cemetery in Yellow Springs at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Hospice of the Miami Valley. Online condolences to the family may be made at http://www.mccolaughfuneralhome.com.
