Village Reclamation Plant gets a shine

The Village completed the renovation of its wastewater treatment plant on Grinnell Road last month, in time to call it a Christmas present for 2011. The upgrade, which took two years and cost nearly $3 million in federal and state grants, as well as Village loans, included a renaming of the Water Reclamation Plant. Improvements included a new overflow detention basin, improved removal systems for phosphorus, ammonia and suspended solids, a touch-screen Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system and several new structures to house elements of the wastewater treatment facility. The facility is now within Ohio EPA regulations and is able to treat 100 percent of the wastewater, even during times of heavy rain and intermittent power.
Water and Wastewater Superintendent Joe Bates, plant operator Brad Ault and assistant Richard Stockton invite villagers to attend an open house to see and learn about the recent plant upgrades on Thursday, Dec. 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In the case of rain or inclement weather, the event will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
