The Harlem Quartet of New York City will play in Yellow Springs twice this weekend. Tonight, March 17, the group will play at 7:30 in the Herndon Gallery on the Antioch College campus, and tomorrow evening, March 18, at 7:30 the quartet plays as part of the Chamber Music Yellow Springs series at the First Presbyterian Church
The March 17 concert will feature a composition by Yellow Springs native Allen McCullough, who is now chair of the music department at Mercer College in Macon, Georgia. The piece was written in memory of McCullough’s late mother, longtime local musician and piano teacher Sarah McCullough. Admission to the concert is $10.
On Sunday the quartet will play a jazz quartet by Chick Corea, the String Quartet #2 by Russian composer Alezander Borodin, and a commissioned piece by Judith Zalmont. .
