Local filmmakers Steve Bognar and Julie Reichert recently won a grant from the MacArthur Foundation for $80,000 for Reinvention Stories, a joint multimedia project with WYSO public radio. The project, through interviews and interactive media, looks at how Dayton residents are transitioning from a manufacturing economy to new ways of working and living.

The grant was one of only nine awarded to documentary filmmakers out of 400 applicants.

“Julia and I are so deeply honored by this strong statement of support from the MacArthur Foundation. We’re blown away, really. This will allow us to take this very meaningful, challenging work even further and deeper, and to build on our collaboration with WYSO even more,” Bognar said recently.

The interactive web site for the project can be accessed at http://www.reinventionstories.org.
