The Yellow Springs Senior Center yesterday announced the selection of Karen Wolford as its new executive director. Wolford, a Dayton resident, was one of three finalists for the position, along with Dean Pulliam and local resident Gilah Pomeranz. Wolford replaces interim director Amy Crawford, who resigned in May. She will begin her position this month.
Prior to joining YSSC, Wolford was the Regional Director and Fund Development Manager for the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, Inc. in Dayton, where, according to a YSSC press release, she was responsible for developing and implementing an annual fundraising plan that generated over $500,000 through individual, corporate, and special event gifts. Wolford prepared and managed local, state and federal grant requests and supervised a full-time staff of over 30 individuals. She was also instrumental in developing the regional Girl Scouts’ volunteer program. Wolford, who worked with the Girl Scouts for 30 years, also brings to the YSSC an extensive background in development and implementation of strategic planning, daily operations management, support and assistance to membership concerns, and experience in finance / budget control.
“The Yellow Springs Senior Center is continuing to meet the needs of our members by providing ever more services, activities, and educational programs,” said Bob Huston, YSSC board president. “We are pleased to welcome Karen Wolford as the new ED, and we are convinced she will move the organization forward to the benefit of all stakeholders.”
