The village’s newest theater troupe, the Yellow Springs Theater Company, will present “D’Arc Comedy,” a darkly comic take on the story of Joan of Arc written by Boston University playwright Wanda Strukus. The play will be presented in the Antioch College Amphitheatre at 8 p.m. this Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1. It continues next weekend at 8 p.m. June 6–8. Admission is $10.

“You go from incredibly funny to very serious and poignant and back to funny — which is hard to write,” local actor Ali Thomas said of the play.

The play is directed by Lorrie Sparrow, who directed several of the productions of Center Stage Theater, which was revived in recent years. Several of the “D’Arc Comedy” actors also appeared in Center Stage plays, such as “Our Town,” and “The Crucible.”

Charlotte Walkey will portray Joan of Arc in this week’s play, and Ali Thomas, Miriam Eckenrode-Saari, Thor Sage, Robert Campbell, Ellen Ballerene, Lara Bentley and Wendy Clark are also involved in the production, either as actors or puppeteers.
