Annual block parties announced

The annual Yellow Springs neighborhood block parties, sponsored by the Human Relations Commission, or HRC, will be this August. Confirmed parties include:

  • Spillan 1300 block, Sun., Aug. 10, 1–5 p.m., hosted by Gary Greenberg & Marjorie McLellan
  • Park Meadows, Sun., Aug. 10, 4–7 p.m., hosted by Jane Brown & Paul Beck
  • Omar Circle, Sat., Aug. 16, 5–9 p.m., hosted by Stephanie & Jason McClean
  • Cliff Street, Sat., Aug. 16, 5–9 p.m., hosted by Marie Hertzler & Brian Maughan
  • Golden Willow Road, Sat., Aug. 16,5–9 p.m., hosted by Adrianne Miller
  • Whiteman/Davis streets, Sat., Aug. 23, 5–8 p.m., hosted by Susan Gartner & Holly Underwood
  • Robinwood, Sun., Aug. 24, 3–7 p.m., hosted by Patti Purdin
  • Pleasant/Walnut streets, date & time to be confirmed, hosted by Hannah & Isaac DeLamatre
  • Kingsfield Court, date & time to be confirmed, hosted by Leonard Kramer
  • Fair Acres, date & time to be confirmed

The HRC is looking for villagers willing to organize a party for their neighborhood. Materials and a small stipend for supplies will be provided. Those interested should contact HRC member Chrissy Cruz at 937-270-4722 or hrc@yso.org.

The parties are a fun way to get to know neighbors and build the village’s community spirit, according to the HRC.
