Patti Bates was officially sworn in by Village Council President Karen Wintrow as Village manager at the Monday, July 7 Council meeting. Bates is the former manager of Williamsburg, Ohio.

Bates was chosen for the job over 61 other candidates. She spent two days in Yellow Springs with two other finalists on May 22 and 23, and came out the top choice of both Council members and citizen participants.

Bristol said he will work with Bates part-time to help acquaint her with her new responsibilities.

At the July 7 meeting, Bristol, who had been Village manager 15 years and came out of retirement to serve as interim manager, thanked Council and villagers for the experience.

“I appreciate the opportunity to come back and work for a while,” Bristol said. “It was a good experience.
