Jeannette Anne McDonald, 85, of Yellow Springs, left this life peacefully on Dec. 9, 2016, at 7 p.m. at Soin Medical Center, while residing at Friends Care Community. 

Jeannette was born in Yellow Springs, daughter of William Perry and Luretta White Perry. She attended John Bryan High School in Yellow Springs. She married George E. McDonald on Jan. 3, 1948. In a loving ceremony on Jan. 3, 2015, at Friends Care Community, George and Jeannette renewed their vows. In attendance were many family members and friends from the Yellow Springs community. 

Her love of travel took her to many places. She traveled to Misawa, Japan; Sun City, South Africa; and attended a family cruise to the Caribbean. Her latest venture with her husband took them to Las Vegas. She attended a rodeo and enjoyed playing various games. 

Jeannette worked at Antioch Bookplate and volunteered at Senior Citizen Center. Jeanette and George both worked for the school system driving the buses. Escorting children to and from school was the job she most enjoyed until her retirement. 

Her family and friends will always remember her happy spirit, loving heart and one who found the positive in everything. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents William and Luretta Perry; two brothers, James and Douglas Perry; and two great-grandchildren Michael and Jasmine Benton. She is survived by her husband George; her daughters Donna Benton, Tanya McDonald, Rosie (James) McDonald Haugh and Brenda Frye; son Larry(Betsey) McDonald; sisters Dorothy Boyce and Marlene Bowman, eight grandchildren; 12 great-grand-children; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family. 

Service for Jeanette McDonald will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at Central Chapel A.M.E Church. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. Pastor Dwight Smith will officiate and the Rev. Dr. John E. Freeman will serve as eulogist. Interment will follow at Glen Forest Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Porter-Qualls-Dunlap Funeral Home.
