Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Yellow Springs-based soul and rock jam band Gin-soaked Angels has announced on social media that a gathering to remember the life of the group’s bassist, Benjamin (Ben) Rorrer, who died earlier this week, will be held Sunday, Jan. 28, at Spirited Goat Coffee House, beginning at 7 p.m.

Rorrer, 24, was well known and well liked within the local community, particularly among young musicians and artists. In addition to his musical activities, he was assistant kitchen manager at Ye Olde Trail Tavern.

In announcing Sunday’s gathering, his bandmates wrote on Facebook: “… There was never a finer person to share a stage with, or to take long car rides to and from shows and festivals. His mind, heart, and door were always open, and he will leave behind a space in our lives, our town, our everything. …”

According to Rorrer’s obituary on the website of Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, a visitation is planned at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 29, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Vineyard Christian Fellowship, also in Bellefontaine. He is survived by his parents, a brother and a sister, all in Zanesfield, Ohio, and another sister in Springfield, Ohio, among other relatives.
