  • ‘Red Pants’ dance

    Hillary and Rick Wagner, performing as Jim’s Red Pants, played to an appreciative audience on a hot summer night last Saturday at the 100 Corry Street plaza. The event was a part of Summer in the Springs, which winds up this weekend with a variety of activities, including JuJu’s Dance Piazza. The dance event takes place this Saturday, Aug. 22, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Corry Street plaza.

  • Dancing near the streets

    Many villagers celebrated dance last weekend, with two special Summer in the Springs events. Former Nonstop Institute dance teacher Jill Becker and friends entertained an appreciative audience Saturday afternoon with whimsical and dramatic improvisations on the Train Station lawn. Shown at top are, from left, Ali Thomas, Jamie Wilke, Dimi Reber, Tricia Gelmini, Melissa Heston, Sandy Mathern, Becker and Marybeth Francesca Wolf. Villagers also enjoyed dancing to the tunes spun by DJ Juju at the dance piazza on Saturday night at the 100 Corry Street plaza.     On Monday, May 4, Village Council will continue a conversation it began in early April on how best to move forward with economic development. One of Council’s six 2009 Village goals is to “establish a plan that improves the economic condition of the community.”

  • First fling of spring

    Michael Kalter, left, and Doug Hamilton performed a lively acoustic set of rock and roll, bluegrass and Eastern European music to the delight of dancing patrons at the Emporium’s Underdog Café on Friday, March 20. The musicians performed with their Miami Valley-based band, Wildwater Band, as part of the Spring into the Arts weekend, which was organized by members of the Yellow Springs Arts Council.
