    During last Friday night’s home football game between Yellow Springs High School and Fairbanks, Ryan Newsome, left, handed the ball off to Joey Bailey for the Bulldogs. Fairbanks won the game 40–8.

    The YSHS boys soccer team clinched its third straight Metro Buckeye Conference championship last Saturday, Oct. 4, with a 4–0 win over league rival Xenia Christian. With only one MBC contest remaining for Yellow Springs, there are just two possible outcomes for the 2008 league crown.

    Joe Fugate kicked the extra point for the Bulldogs with Allen Cox holding on Friday, Sept. 26, as Yellow Springs struggled and lost 55–23 against the Waynesfield Goshen Tigers.

    Last Saturday, Sept. 27, the YSHS boys soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 7–0 victory over the Newton Indians. The Bulldogs are now 5–0–2 in their last seven games, 7–3–3 overall.

    YSHS exchange student Anders Ingebrigtsen and senior Amelia Tarpey were named the 2008 Homecoming king and queen last Friday night., Sept. 19, at halftime ceremonies. The Bulldogs beat the Ridgemont Gophers 23–22 in an exciting Homecoming game in which the Bulldogs pulled out a last-minute win with a field goal by Joe Fugate.

    The Bulldog football team lost 33–20 to the Marion Catholic Irish on Sept. 12, but came away from the game on Friday, Sept. 19, with an exciting 23–22 Homecoming victory against the Ridgemont Gophers.

    Alexis Onfroy opened his junior season in cross country by leading the Bulldogs to victory at the 9th annual Ambassador Classic in Xenia on Saturday, Sept. 6.

    The YSHS girls soccer team won one and lost one last week. Beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 26, Yellow Springs evinced a 2–0 victory over Tri-County North, but lost to Sidney Lehman 7–0 on Saturday, Aug. 30, to put the team at 3–1 for the season.
