    Despite both growing up in Yellow Springs, local teens Sam Salazar and Rory Papania never really met. But after attending Friends Music Camp together, they started picking a ukulele and guitar in front of Tom’s Market and the bluegrass-folk band Wheels was born.

    The annual Yellow Springs Clean-up Week takes place next week, Monday, May 14, through Friday, May 18. Villagers may put most household items out by the curb to be hauled away.

    Friends Music Camp staff and campers will present a benefit concert for the camp’s scholarship fund on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Friends Care Community.

    These 11 local young musicians will perform this Saturday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Mills Lawn gym, as part of the annual Friends Music Camp concert in Yellow Springs. The event is a fundraiser for Glen Helen. Pictured are, back from left, Hollister Fitch, Annabel Welsh, Oona Owen, Erin Grote, Rory Papania, Joshua Seitz, Porter Fitch and Maeve Korkan-Laughlin.     A benefit concert to raise money for Friends Music Camp scholarships will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Friends Care Extended Living Center dining room, 150 East Herman Street in Yellow Springs.
