    Seven-year-old Sampson is one lucky goat, according to his caretaker, Abby Dant of Xenia. Sampson was the demonstration goat at a workshop last weekend at the United Methodist Church, the first of six winter food and farming events organized by New Liberty Farms.

    New Liberty Farms, best known locally for their chickens, will host a series of food and farming workshops this winter, beginning with a session on goats this Saturday.

    The butter-yellow chicks twittering about in their baby blue swimming pools look and sound happy and healthy. Though in about six weeks, most of them will become someone’s dinner, their brief lives will be spent frolicking with their brothers and sisters with plenty of grains, bugs and grass to eat. The folks at New Liberty Farms would have it no other way.
