The burning of Rabbit Run farmhouse
After purchasing Rabbit Run Farm on Dayton Street, Vernay Laboratories razed its farmhouse, due to concerns over the safety of the vacant building. The controlled burn was used as a training operation for Miami Township Fire-Rescue and other local fire departments on August 7, 2010.

Vernay Foundation dissolved
The Vernay Foundation, which funded the building of the library, the Community Children’s Center, the Friends Care Community and many other projects in the village, officially dissolved on Dec. 31, 2008. Recalling its roots, the foundation donated the remainder of the fund to its first recipient, the Children’s Center.

Vernay to demolish building
After sitting idle and mostly empty for the past four years, the Vernay Laboratories Dayton Street facility is set for demolition in mid-December.
