    Chris Johnson jumped to fourth place at Tuesday's district track meet

    An unseasonably chilly day couldn’t cool off the Bulldogs’ Mario Cosey and Chris Johnson during the Division-III district meet at Welcome Stadium in Dayton on Tuesday, May 18.Cosey left no doubt as to who was the fastest athlete on the track.

  • Swim team to meet

    The Yellow Springs swim team will hold an organizational meeting on Wednesday, May 12, 6:30 p.m., at the library. The group will vote on officers for the upcoming year, organize committees and discuss concerns about the upcoming season.

  • Girls first, boys second in home meet

    The YSHS track and field team turned in strong performances at the Bulldog Invitational on May 7, with the girls team winning with 76 points and the boys team finishing second (75) behind Shawnee (88). The Lady Bulldogs only won two events during the day, but placed in several other events to give the squad a first-place finish among a 12-team field.

  • Bulldog Sports Round-up

    On Tuesday, May 4, the YSHS boys track team finished fifth out of ten teams at the Shawnee Invitational. Shawnee won the meet. Mario Cosey had first-place finishes in the 100 (11.25) and 200 (23.22) dashes. Will Rippley was second in the high jump and long jump. Logan Norris-Sayres was second in the 200 dash.

  • Rec baseball needs volunteers

    Volunteers are needed to help this summer with youth recreational baseball. There is a need for assistant coaches for both minor and major leagues, as well as field preparation for infield (which will not include mowing). Volunteers may help with either or both. Students grades 9–12 who volunteer will be eligible for community service credits.

    Both the YSHS girls and boys track and field teams stormed the Bulldogs’ 10th annual Invitational meet on Friday, May 7, taking first place out of the 12 teams that competed.

  • Girls play baseball, too

    Two sisters, Alex and Adrianne Beer, are playing baseball for Yellow Springs High School this season. Alex, a junior, and Adrianne, a freshman, are taking the field for the Bulldogs because there was not enough student interest to form a softball team. The girls would rather play softball, but enjoy playing baseball because they are happy to be playing anything at all.

  • Soccer camp registration begins

    YSSI will host the British Soccer Challenger Sports camps again this summer during the week of June 14–18 for children in Yellow Springs and surrounding areas. Registration has begun. Sign up may also be completed online at www.challengersports.com/. A limited number of scholarships are available by contacting Pam Conine at 767-8031.
