  • Harmony Rain Barrel Project

    Three wonderfully painted rain barrels from a Nevada town, who has been doing a similar project for 5 years to help raise money for low income families to enjoy children's programs at their local zoo.

    The Harmony Rain Barrel project will help fund the 2014 Human Relation Commission’s Learning/Sharing Mental Health Series. Deadline for artists to submit their ideas is quickly approaching!

  • Events focus on those with disabilities

    A series of events will take place this Saturday, Dec. 7, to increase awareness of those with mental or physical disabilities. A documentary on the topic will be shown at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Little Art Theatre.

  • Library sends free books to kids

    Greene County Library Director Karl Colón and Youth Services Coordinator Kay Webster helped to launch the Dolly Parton Imagination Library locally last month.     Every child under five in Greene County is now eligible to receive a free book in the mail once a month.

    The annual Yellow Springs Thanksgiving dinner takes place today at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.

    Two peer-led support groups for mental health have begun meeting. A group for those with mental illness is held each Wednesday from 6:30-8 p.m.

  • Help prepare for Thanksgiving dinner

    With Thanksgiving just about a week away, Yellow Springs is gearing up for its annual community Thanksgiving potluck dinner. The community meal is sponsored and planned by the Interspiritual Council, and a final planning meeting before the big day will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. in the lounge of the First Presbyterian Church.

  • A local introduction to the “Fourth Way”

    Several local practitioners will present an introduction to the teachings of Armenian spiritual philosopher George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff this week at the library.

    the 28-room hotel that local family Jim, Libby and Katie Hammond plan to build on the Barr property just across from the school will be called Mills Park Hotel, in an homage to William Mills.
