  • Fundraiser to feature Muslim comic

    A comedian who recently made his network TV debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert after performing as the opening act on Dave Chappelle’s 2015 national tour, has been snagged to perform in Yellow Springs for the Antioch School’s annual Auction Gala event.

    YS Schools and the Levy Committee will hold an informational meeting about the district’s combined renovation/rebuild plan for the middle/high school facilities on Thursday, March 1, 6:30 p.m., in the YSHS cafeteria.

  • ‘High School Musical’ coming soon to Mills Lawn stage

    The YSHS and McKinney spring musical, “Disney’s High School Musical, On Stage!” will be performed Friday–Sunday, March 9–11 and 16–18, at Mills Lawn.

    Award-winning education journalist and author John Merrow will be in Yellow Springs on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

  • Tickets to Antioch School’s Auction Gala are still available

    The Antioch School’s Older Group was recently immersed in storytelling and theater, thanks to special guest Christopher Westhoff, of the Mad River Theater Works performing arts company, who spent a portion of each day last week at the school. Westhoff helped students develop their own play about the life and influence of retired Older Group teacher Bill Mullins, which they performed last Friday.     The Yellow Springs school district is ramping up efforts in support of passing its May 8 ballot request of a combined 4.7-mill property levy and 0.25 percent income tax. A crucial piece in that effort is the formation of a levy committee.

    A celebration of Americana to send eighth-graders to America’s capital, this year’s annual McKinney Chili Cook-Off is doubling down on national nostalgia with the addition of square dancing and bluegrass music.
