Jessica Curry
Jessie was born on Jan. 24, 1972, in Springfield, the daughter of James H. Grisso and Jacqueline Collier. She was a former Yellow Springs resident and employee.
Jessica graduated from Tecumseh High School and recently attended Clark State. She was a long-time employee at the Yellow Springs Credit Union, Speedway, Tasty Freeze and was a caregiver of the elderly. Her hearty laugh and sincere smile lit up a room. She loved children, all types of people and music, especially classic and orchestral rock, as well as rhythm and blues, hip-hop, funk, reggae, gospel and soul. Jess had a deep appreciation for art, animals and nature. She will be missed by many. She asked that her ashes be sprinkled at the fort in St. Augustine, Fla., near the Yellow Spring and at the Clifton Gorge.
Jessica was preceeded in death by her mother, Jacqueline, nearly 30 years ago. She is survived by her father and step-mother, James and Sue Ann Grisso of Springfield, sister and brother-in-law Jennifer and Rodney Inman of Centerville, sister Krista Frazee of Jacksonville, Fla. and sister Jocelyn Grisso of Dayton, nieces and nephews Drew, Emily, Hannah, Kaleb, Jacob, Chloe and Tahmya, special friends Mark, Maria, Kathy, David, Erica, Le and Eddie and her dog, Princess. Many thanks to Laurie and Theresa of the Threshold Choir of Yellow Springs for singing to Jessica on Friday, just hours before she died.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19 at Springfield’s Masonic Home in the Chapel at 2 p.m., and a celebration of life party following the service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Yellow Springs beginning at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Parks District.
