Making dough

The fourth-grade class at Mills Lawn school proudly presented a check to the Yellow Springs Food Bank this week for $182.92. The students raised the money themselves during a business and economics lesson called “Ready, Sell, Dough,” developed by the Students in Free Enterprise program at Cedarville University. The college students worked with the fourth graders to establish cookie making companies and compete to make the most profit at the cookie market, open to consumers in grades three, five and six. Students took on roles such as company advertisers, accountants, and sales managers, and some companies made out better than others. One even lost money, reported a student from a competing company.
