Athletes honored as spring season ends

Spring sports are officially over at Yellow Springs High School. On Monday, June 1, a signing ceremony for seniors moving on to play their sport next year in college was held, followed by the annual spring sports award ceremony.

Next year four Bulldog seniors will play in college. Softball players Jesi Worsham and Chelsea Horton will play at Clark State Community College in Springfield, Jared Scarfpin will play soccer at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio and Ian Chick will play soccer at Sewanee: University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.

Conference awards were doled out to numerous Bulldog athletes. Metro Buckeye Conference Sportsmanship Awards went to: Emma Romohr, Dani Worhsam, Kasey Linkhart, Amelia Gray and JT Clark. Other MBC Awards included:

  • All MBC 1st Team : Augie Knemeyer, Chelsea Horton, Jesi Worsham, Hannah Morrison, Jared Scarfpin, Kaner Butler, Edward Johnson, Cameron Miles, Joe Plumer, Aaron Sherwood, Bryce White, Dymeisha Banks, Olivia Brintlinger-Conn, Jasmine Davidson, Charlotte Walkey, Julie Roberts
  • All MBC 2nd Team : Henry Potts- Rubin, Meredith Rowe, Gabe Day, Kadie Lafferty, Liam Weigand and Aakeem Truss
  • MBC Coaches Award Recipients – (Baseball – Chase Barclay), (Softball – Chelsea Horton), (Tennis – Augie Knemeyer), (Track – Julie Roberts)

In addition, district champion Julie Roberts was honored for winning first in the 300-meter hurdles, along with the other regional qualifiers: Olivia Brintlinger-Conn, Christina Banks, Dymeisha Banks, Julie Roberts, Charlotte Walkey, Levi Brown, Aaron Sherwood, Bryce White, Joe Plumer, Edward Johnson, Cameron Miles, Kaner Butler.

Finally, scholar-athlete awards went to Mollye Malone and Ian Chick, Jesi Worsham brought home the Simply Women Scholarship and NFHS Awards of Excellence were bestowed upon Meredith Rowe and Bryce White.
