Despite winning only one game last week and battling to a tie in another, the Tom’s Market Pirates still hold a two game lead in the Minor League standings. On Monday, June 18, the Pirates cruised to a dominating 19–7 win over the Peach’s Dodgers, in which all players scored and as a team, they pounded out 27 hits. Tavey Johnson and Adeline Zinger led the Pirates, each going 4–4 at the plate and scoring four runs, including second inning home run by Zinger. Oskar Dennis and Bryce Fleming both went 3–4 and knocked in three runs. Orion Sage-Frabotta and Sherrod Wheeler each had a pair of RBIs, Tanner Miller scored twice off as many hits while David Torres, siblings Nakye and Nylaiyah Miley and Edwin Harrah all scored once. Meanwhile the Peach’s Dodgers scattered 15 hits including three runs from a 4–4 day at the plate by Lucas Mikesell and Tomé Rios going 3–3 at the plate resulting in three RBIs. Theo Collins scored twice off a pair of base hits with both Tiger Collins and Henry Carr each adding a run scored.

The opening game on Saturday, June 23, saw a fifth inning single help the Nipper’s Corner Reds battle to a 10–10 tie with the Tom’s Market Pirates. Down 10–3 after three innings, the final two frames saw the Reds score seven runs while holding the Pirates scoreless, thanks to some tough defense. Hits and runs scored by Ella Fodall, Henry Lake, Brendyn Slone and Mateen and Sameer Sajabi brought the Reds within four runs going into the final inning. Sameer Sajabi’s ground ball single in the final inning then tied the game by sending Henry Lake across the plate after an RBI base hit from Slone and a two RBI single by Ella Fodall. The Pirates had one last chance to win after Nakye Miley’s base hit in the bottom of the last inning. But Sherrod Wheeler flied out to Sameer Sajabi at short who then finished the game by throwing to first for the double play after Miley left the base.

Saturday’s second game saw the Sam and Eddie’s Open Books Braves get their first win of the season in an exciting 6–5 victory over the Peach’s Dodgers. The game was tied at 5–5 after each team put up three runs in the third inning. The teams held each other scoreless in the fourth and the Braves defense then kept the Dodgers from scoring in their final at bat in the top of the fifth. Teddy Horvath set up the Braves win with a hard hit triple to lead off the bottom of the inning. Lucas Price then stepped into the batter’s box and hit the game winning single up the middle to send Horvath across the plate and seal the win. Horvath and Price led the team, both going 3–3 with Horvath scoring twice and Price knocking in the winning run plus one other and scoring once. Tomé Rios led the Dodgers with a run scored, two RBIs off four hits with Theo Collins, Alex Main, Javin Obringer and Charlie Carr all scoring once.

The Adoption Link Braves opened up a two-game lead in the Major league standings after a pair of wins last week, starting with a 16–7 victory over the Sunrise Café Indians on Monday, June 18. Isaac Grushon and Brady Baker both scored three Braves runs, including a first inning home run by Grushon. Sam Linden and Shawn VanHoose each scored twice for the Braves with DeAndre Cowen, Noah VanHoose, Colin Lindeman, Liam McClean and Joslyn Herring all adding one run each. J.P.
