Today my daughter and I happened upon the posted notice of the passing of Terry. Such sad news!
For a few years I’ve visited YS around sunrise several times each month on my motor scooter.
Sitting with my coffee and helmet next to the UnderDog, I met Terry as he rode in on his bike – barefoot “until the temp drops below @ 40 degrees” he said.
Eventually I introduced my teenage daughter and my wife to Terry.
We all came to enjoy chatting with this lovely man in and around the streets of YS.
His friendly greeting and peace sign from his bike made us smile.
I looked for him each time I visited the village.

Terry was Yellow Springs to me, my daughter and my wife.
It will be some time before our family does not look for this wonderful fellow when we come to town.

    “Peace” to you, dear Terry.

Terry, your departure from the world of the breathing really took me by surprise. In case I hadn’t let you know, I feel so thankful that you have been a part of the tapestry of my life. In all the ways we knew each other, you were a positive, healing, joyous force. The world is better for your having walked upon it. I look forward to a big hug from you when I get to the next side.

  5. Samantha Haub says:

Thanks for dancing with me Terry. Your smile shines bright.

  6. Cindy Wineburgh says:

I will always remember seeing Terry climb through a window at Rockford Chapel for Friends’ Meeting on an early visit shortly after George Wineburgh and I moved to Yellow Springs. And Terry standing on the corner on Saturdays. Condolences to his family.

  7. Thank you Terry Snider for giving me hope! A hope that even though not all people are just, having little or no sense of morals, we can always choose to let bygones be bygones and help make the world a better place!

This is me and what I have to say about this subject.

  9. Terry Joe Snider was born in Miami County Ohio on November 5, 1940. He was the fourth child born to Gladys Fern Riffell and Millard Benton Snider. He was raised on a farm in the Pleasant Hill, Ohio area. Terry graduated from Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana. He was the father of four children – Chris, Lisa, Theodore “Teddy”, and one adopted child Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Lowell, and Max, and one sister Ruth. Two siblings remain Dan and Mary.
Terry never took more than he needed but often looked for opportunities to serve others. He was comfortable speaking out on a variety of subjects especially those pertaining to the environment and societal injustices. As he journeyed these past seventy-eight years on this earth, we feel that he has made a difference and bloomed where he planted his feet.
Terry was as natural as they come. We will miss you our shoe-less (by choice) cousin. You are one in a million Terry Snider. Peace. Terry Judd Snider November 5, 1940 – December 22, 2018. Brenda Fetters

I last saw Terry a few months back on the farm on which he grew to maturity. I am so pleased to have spent those moments with our shoe-less (by choice) cousin. We will miss your spirited desire to make a change in this world in the 78 years that you walked this earth. Peace. Terry Judd Snider November 5, 1940 – December 22, 2018. Brenda Fetters (Utah)
