In honor of National Pollinator Week in June, Village Artisans Gallery in Yellow Springs has announced a call for entries for a special exhibition called “Birds & Bees: Pollinator Awareness — A Community Art Show.”

The gallery invites artists from the Yellow Springs and Dayton area to enter up to three original two-dimensional and/or three-dimensional art pieces — in any media — that reference the theme of the exhibit.

The show will run May 16 through June 21, with a closing reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 21.

Entry forms are available in the gallery and online — at http://www.villageartisans.blogspot and on the group’s Facebook page. Artwork, entry forms and fees are to be delivered to the gallery in person on May 11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., or May 12, from noon to 5 p.m. The entry fee is $10 for one work and $5 for each additional piece.

The U.S. Senate first approved the designation of a National Pollinator Week in 2007, and the annual week has since been recognized the third week in June.

Village Artisans, a multi-media, cooperative art gallery formed in 1983, is located at 100 Corry St., in Yellow Springs. For more information, stop in the gallery, call 937-767-1209 or email villageartisans.email@yahoo.com. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

The group’s spring show, “Beautiful Bounty of Blooms,” was hung Thursday, April 4, and will be on view until May 13, with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 17.
