On the morning of Friday, May 3, the heavens opened above Yellow Springs, letting down a deluge of cleansing rain. Both Yellow Springs Creek and Birch Creek rushed rapidly on their muddy courses through the Glen Helen Nature Preserve. At top, is the Birch Creek cascades on May 3, below, the same scene five dry days later. April ended both wetter and warmer than average for the Dayton area, and the National Weather Service office expects above normal temperatures and precipitation to continue over the next three months.
