Yellow Springs filmmaker Julia Reichert is being honored with a retrospective salute at the Museum of Modern Art, or MoMA, in New York City, now through June 8.

Organized by the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University, the tribute is a celebration of “one of the most distinguished bodies of work in American independent film and one of our most accomplished documentarians,” according to a press release from the contemporary art museum.

This is the latest recognition for the local filmmaker, who has been nominated three times for an Academy Award, has received an Emmy and has had a film chosen for the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress, among other honors.

Last year Reichert received the Career Achievement Award from the International Documentary Association, a professional group for documentary filmmakers. Her latest film, “American Factory,” won the Director’s Award at Sundance Film Festival in February.

The Yellow Springs News profiled Reichert’s distinguished career in an article in December 2018. Read it here: https://ysnews.com/news/2018/12/village-filmmaker-is-honored-by-industry
