Two weeks ago, 36 educators from public schools in Yellow Springs, Xenia, Fairborn, Springfield, and Dayton attended a two-day workshop at Agraria to create lesson plans around concepts like soil, regenerative agriculture and ecological restoration. Here, the educators threw “seed balls” they had created with retired YSHS teacher Terry Graham onto Agraria’s fields. The outdoor experiential workshop was funded by the Ohio EPA and taught by Yellow Springs teachers, including Peg Morgan and Rebecca Eastman, along with other local naturalists and educators. Community Solutions, which owns the 128-acre farm west of the village, is hopeful that the teachers also use Agraria for field trips and research projects throughout the school year.
