Symposium to address artificial intelligence

On Monday, July 15, Antioch College will host an Artificial Intelligence Symposium from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Eichelberger Forum Main Stage at the Dayton Metro Library. The symposium will feature keynote speaker Jay Tuck, a US defense expert and Antioch College alumnus, and a panel of Dayton-area AI experts, including villager Dr. Amy L. Magnus of the Air Force Institute of Technology.
According to Tuck: “Artificial intelligence promises huge advances in science and technology. … It is also a very dangerous technology that needs to be limited. Every day we are relinquishing responsibility over segments of our society to it. Once relinquished, this responsibility will never return to humans.”
Discussions at the event will explore not only the applications for AI, but also the ethics surrounding its use. Following Tuck’s keynote address, the discussion panel will also take questions from the audience.
