AGRARIA JOURNAL 2022 29 By mid-summer, the harvest — and Agraria’s pop-up market — is in full swing. Produce including eggplants, peppers, and an array of greens nourish market customers and Agraria staff, and get shared out to areas of need in the region. In addition to crop plants, staff plant and tend native trees, reflecting Agraria’s ongoing commitment to agroforestry — agriculture incorporating the growing and conservation of trees. Come autumn, the fields are mowed and staff begin sowing cover crop seeds, a regenerative practice for enhancing soil quality. And through all the seasons, carefully tended compost turns the circle from waste into fertility. ~Audrey Hackett ALL PHOTOS ARE BY JEREMY SCHLEINING UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. AMY HARPER
