said Klug. “The committee recognizes that only through collective action, shared measurements, and strategic support structures will our community be resilient in the face of climate change.” AGRARIA REACHING OUT TO WIDER AUDIENCE Agraria has been expanding its presence in the region and beyond over the last year. Here are a few of the outreach highlights over the last several months: Tia Stuart, Director of BIPOC Farming Initiatives and coordinator of the Regenerative Farming Fellowship program, was a panelist during BIPOC Farmer Lobbying Day at the Ohio Statehouse and presented before the Ohio House of Representatives. She is a member of the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association’s Beginning Farming Advisory Network and the North American Staples Network, and was featured in an article in the Dayton Business Journal about the RFF. Tia’s family farm, The Narrow Way Farm, was part of the 2022 OEFFA Sustainability Farm Tour and Workshop Series. Ariella Brown, Director of BIPOC Strategic Partnerships, was a panelist during The Food Tank’s World Food Day Summit at The Ohio State University, and was interviewed for a feature on WYSO Public Radio about the 2022 Black Farming Conference. Agraria Farm Manager Amanda Hernandez is a Soil Health Ambassador for OEFFA, was a panelist during a soil health discussion sponsored by OEFFA’s policy program, and represents Agraria on the Village of Yellow Springs Environmental Commission. Assistant Land Director River Johnson spoke about the Carver Farm and George Washington Carver at the Montgomery County Food Summit. Highlights from Agraria Executive Director Susan Jennings’ recent outreach activities include speaking at the recent PIVOT conference and the Association of Ohio Public Health Educators and presenting at the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. She also presented, with staff member Omopé Carter Daboiku, at the Wilmington College Peace Symposium, and has traveled around the country visiting organizations aligned with Agraria’s mission. Outreach Coordinator Alex Klug represented Agraria in the year-long EPA Environmental Justice Academy, and serves on the committee developing the Yellow Springs Climate Action Sustainability Plan. Media highlights include: a feature on “Let’s Talk Regenerative Agriculture,” a podcast aired on WYSO public radio; a Spectrum News feature on RFF Fellow Anita Armstead of Eden’s Harvest; and a feature on “The Sojourner Truth Podcast.” The Regenerative Farming Fellowship Program was also highlighted in The Nature Conservancy’s international magazine this fall. Agraria hosted seminars with American Farmland Trust and the National Sustainable Education Association conference, and co-hosted a farm bill policy listening session with OEFFA. Agraria is also a partner in the NRCS-funded Regional Conservation Partnership Program focused on soil health and ecologically sensitive farming practices.
