46 AGRARIA JOURNAL 2022 Conferences and Events BLACK FARMING CONFERENCE In September, our third annual Black Farming Conference, “Roots, Food and Storytelling,” brought together urban and rural farmers, food workers, students, leaders of cooperatives, ministers, nutrition educators, and community organizers from Florida, Indiana, New York, California, and Ohio for a moving weekend of poetry, stories, preaching, and truth-telling. Co-sponsored by Agraria, the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center, and Central State University, the conference included presentations, workshops, tours of Central State campus, and a farmers market organized by Agraria’s Regenerative Farmer Fellows. Farming traditions from Khadejah Scott and a storytelling workshop by Omopé Carter Daboiku, Agraria’s first artist in residence, were also on the program. PHOTOS BY MEGAN BACHMAN
