Funded by generous donors, local adver tisers and subscrip- tions, CMYS is also the recipi- ent of grants from the Ohio Arts Council and the Yellow Springs Community Founda- tion. Its media sponsor is Dis- cover Classical, WDPR, Day- ton’s classical radio station. The ensembles, selected by CMYS’s local booking com- mittee, often also present out- reach programs to enthusias- tic student audiences in local schools and colleges as part of their visits. Many community volunteers help make each concert season successful. In the 2020-21 season, with ongoing precautions against the COVID-19 virus, CMYS is planning to fulfill its mission in modified formats. Music reading is necessar y. The band plays six to seven concerts a year: two in fall, two in winter/ spring and three outdoor summer concerts in June and July. The repertoire includes standard marches, medleys of Broadway and Hollywood songs, big band and jazz sets and other works for concert band in a variety of styles. As of March 15, 2020, all rehearsals and performances are temporarily suspended until it is deemed safe to congregate publicly in large groups again.
