The mission of the GCESC is to promote educational suc- cess of students by provid- ing essential, effective, spe- cialized services supporting collaborative par tnerships amongst all stakeholders. GCESC pr ovides high quality special education and instructional services to the districts in Greene County. The ser vices provided to each district var y depend- ing on the size of the district and the special needs that each district has. GCESC contracts with each district on a yearly basis. By coordi- nating ser vices for the dis- tricts, GCESC is able to help them reduce duplication of personnel and programs, thereby reducing costs for the schools. The Center is considered to be a premier provider of therapy ser vices for stu- dents, including physical therapy, occupational ther- apy, speech therapy, and adapted physical education. The center provides vision, hearing, orientation and mobility, and audiology ser- vices to the Greene County school districts. Fu r t he r, GCESC a l s o r uns the Intensive Needs Classrooms for students with severe communication disorders and behavioral issues. Preschool programs are run by the GCESC for Yellow Springs, Cedar Cliff, Bellbrook-Sugarcreek and Greeneview school districts. The Greene County Educa- tional Ser vice Center also provides an ar ray of edu- cational programs for stu- dents with emotional and/or behavioral issues. GCESC is the first ESC in the state of Ohio to operate an accredited mental health agency and has ser ved all the Greene County districts with school- based mental health services for the past 20 years.
