Two- and 3-year- olds are welcome if accompanied on the diamond by an adult. The pro- gram is open to all children regard- less of race, color, creed, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, ability or disability or spiritual inclination. There are no fees, and just a simple registration form. Children can begin to play on any of the 10 Friday nights, and there is no requirement to play every week. Organizers try to keep it simple, try to make it fun and are serious about keeping it noncompetitive. There are no outs, no runs, no scores and no one ever strikes out: you get 1,000 strikes in T-ball. Every child gets a chance to field and to bat a couple of times each evening. Children come out to play ball, to play in the water at the drink- ing fountain, to play in the grasses around the two fields, to hang out with their old and/or new friends and they often come out to just sit and play in the dust of the Gaunt Park ball diamonds. The Per r y League is a sel f - sustaining, all-volunteer program. Donations and the sale of T-shirts allow the program to pay for itself. Per r y League is held Friday nights from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Gaunt Park. TThe season runs all Fridays in June and July with a wiener roast pot- luck picnic, at which every child is awarded a Perry League trophy.
