In 1977 Jim left academia to join the Jet Propulsion Laboratory where he worked for over 25 years designing navigation software for the Voyager and Galileo planetary exploration missions, among other accomplish- ments. He has a T-shirt that says “Actually, I Am a Rocket Scientist.” After ten years of marriage, Jim and I finally got around to start- ing a family. Raising our family in- cluded yearly camping vacations in the American west and we have continued to enjoy the outdoors in retirement, including almost- annual trips to Yosemite National Park and a recent hiking trip along the Northumberland Coast Path in England. Our house in Glendale, Calif., is nestled against the Verdugo Mountains but also convenient to the cultural resources of Los Angeles and Pasadena. Alex, our first-born son, is a writer of speculative fiction living in Oak Park, Ill. He recently married his soul-mate, Anna Peterson. Quinlan, our younger son, holds a B.A. in re- ligions from Earlham and is now at the University of Victoria pursuing a degree in psychology. In my vol- unteer life my primary commitments have been to education.In addition to Antioch I have devoted many hours of service to the Pasadena Waldorf School where my two sons received their primary school education, and where I currently serve as a trustee. ANTIOCH I am still so thankful for Antioch which taught me that you can always take on new experiences and learn new skills.
