After two grueling years of surgeries, radiation, chemo- therapy, numerous hopes and disap- pointments, he died in 2010, a week before his 26th birthday. Since I retired I have been in- volved in some medical school teach- ing at Tufts and Boston University, taking some courses at Brandeis’ lifetime learning institute and serv- ing on a few nonprofit boards. I have done a little photography and have been trying to improve my golf game with little success.This winter I feel like a bonafide retiree spend- ing three months in Naples, Fla., playing golf and enjoying an escape from the New England winter.
