I wanted to pursue an ac- ademic career in physics and I went with high expectations after having such excellent teachers at Antioch. It took only a few classes for me to realize that the mathematics in- struction at Antioch had been ex- ceptional and it colored my view of the classes at Minnesota. After four years of trying to find my way I left with a master’s degree. After gradua- tion, I went to work in an engineer- ing group at the school of physics that developed hardware for several experimental space studies. At that position I learned a tremendous amount about quality and reliability issues with electronic components and that groomed me for a career that focused on those areas. I went towork n 1972 for Control Data and in 1975 for Medtronic. While at Medtronic,my responsibili- ties grew and for a period of time I was also responsible for a small clin- ical program in drug administration devices. I left Medtronic in 1984 and began working at a small telecom- munication equipment company called ADC Telecommunications. I worked at ADC primarily in the area of component quality and reliability until my retirement in 2007. In 1974 I married my wife, Krin. Yes, that is Krin and is not a typo. It is rumored to be a Norwegian name, but her parents claim to have made it up. She was born in a small town in Minnesota with a large Norwegian population. There are several Krins now in this town and it is rumored that they are all named after my wife. We have a dog but no children. We live in a retirement community out- side of Phoenix most of the year. In the hot summer months we escape to our lake home in the far north woods of Minnesota. My main hobbies have been golf, tennis, and cooking. Since I have retired I have added reading to the list and taken tennis off. It seems that I have pretty much wrecked my knees with all the tennis, but I am still able to play my new substitute game—pickleball. I am sad to say that I have not been very good at keeping in touch with my classmates at Antioch. At this moment my plans for the re- union are uncertain.
