My mother was a wise and won- derful woman. She taught me I had no right to have a child until I could provide both emotional and financial support. The buck has always stopped here.So my life and priorities changed (as in “Dress for Success” which im- mediately got me a $3,000 raise). Peter finally met his father when he was 12. It could have happened ear- lier, but his dad wasn’t ready. Peter is the BESTTHING I have ever done. ANTIOCH REUNION WORK PROJECT I came to my first reunion in 1989, largely to find out about the alumni work project, which had in- trigued me since I first heard about it. I sent Peter to overnight camp in 1990 and attended work project by myself. In 1991 we both came to work project. Peter (age 11) helped pull carpets out of North Hall com- mon rooms on Sunday afternoon (throwing them over the railing into a dumpster and having a wonder- ful time!) and then attended “night” Eco-camp at the Outdoor Education Center (“School Camp” in our day). We came back in 1992 and worked on Birch Hall common room. Peter helped Mac Palmer (’61) and Gary Houseknecht (’66) with “stuff” and Helen Hawthorne (’48) with garden- ing. Peter’s last two work projects were 1994 and 1995, both spent at theTheater. To this day,Work Project remains a big deal in Peter’s life In ’93 we missed work project, although we came through Yellow Springs on our way west (donat- ing $20 to Maples for the privi- lege of spending the night there). Our trip was peopled with other Antioch friends we had met dur- ing work project (Sally Lou Todd ’62 in Minneapolis; Jim ’49 and Helen Hawthorne in Barrington, Ill.; Margery ’61 and Mac Palmer in Missoula). Without our work project friends, we could not have made the trip. LIFE TODAY: • seasonal tax preparer, retired • 45 years attender/25 years vol- unteer Philadelphia (Philly) Folk Festival • 40 years working member Weavers Way Food Co-op • Antioch work project, 26 times and counting • twice yearly Judge of Elections/ poll worker • usher,Walnut Street Theater (oldest U.S theater and still in original location) • gardener • student at OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute), a college for seniors • decluttering my house • and let me not forget—I am a new grandmother! A goddess named Alexis captured my son’s heart and now they have blessed us with their beautiful daughter Misha. CHALLENGES My mother was a gifted and prolific artist who I believe chan- neled directly from spirit. She did not market herself. My victory for humanity will come when I get much more of her work out into the public domain. I don’t know how to do that. HELP!! Anybody got any ideas??? Son Peter “Mrs. Hat” (my nickname) at 2014 Philly. Easter 2014: Alexis, Peter, Misha, and proud “Grandma Hat.” I wonder where I got THAT hat?!
