Fortuitously for us, that cousin died shortly before Treasury and I parted ways.We pur- chased the house to keep it “in the family.” We took possession of the house in October 2003 and finished moving in on December 25. I have finally found my true vocation as an organic gardener and steward of the land.We now have two more cats in the house who came as strays, one cat in the barn who came as a stray, and a fourth cat who comes and goes and eats anything the others do not.We have birds in the yard, frogs and an occasional turtle in the pond, and watch fruit, flowers and vegeta- bles grow. Over the past ten years or so we have become accepted in the community thanks largely to the family connection.We are active in the town and county historical as- sociations. I currently edit the news- letter for the town historical asso- ciation, maintain its mailing list and attend meetings of its board of direc- tors.
