On our tax returns her occu- pation is listed as “desert botanist,” a title well-earned. Lou, still at Fennemore Craig, has been deeply involved in the pro- bate and estate planning bar. He has presented annually at seminars for lawyers on advanced issues in pro- bate and estate planning for more than 20 years; he regularly lectures at seminars for lawyers and other professionals sponsored by the State Bar of Arizona and the county bar;he has served as on-call probate com- missioner and judge in the Superior Court, as well as volunteer mediator in probate matters; and he has been named to the list of Best Lawyers in America each year for more than 30 years. He served for 21 years as chairman of the Troop Committee for the Boy Scout Troop at our church, and 18 years as Chancellor (corporate lawyer) for our par- ish. Lou also has served the Desert Botanical Garden as a member of its Board of Trustees for 14 years, mem- ber and chair of its Planned Giving Committee for 20 years, member and chair of its Research,Collections and Horticulture Committee for 15 years, and director and secretary of the Desert Botanical Garden Foundation for six years. Both of our sons, who were born in New York, grew up in Arizona, active in their schools, in- strumental groups and scouting. Both left Arizona for college and jobs, but each returned to Arizona— Christopher combining great inter- personal and computer tech skills as a go-to IT guy; and Lou III who first pursued a clerical career but is now an attorney practicing public law with our county attorney. We have seven wonderful grandchildren, and we are heavily involved with them. We enjoy hiking, backpack- ing and camping, together and with our sons and their families. We have participated in five medical mis- sions to Honduras; we continue to volunteer considerable time at the Desert Botanical Garden and at our church; and we enjoy annual trips to Oceanside, Calif., to satisfy Pat’s deeply rooted ocean needs. We still believe we are making a difference, and we attribute much of our suc- cess and continuing interests in our local and larger communities to our wonderful experiences at Antioch, in our classes and on our co-op jobs. Thanks, Dean Dawson, for not ex- pelling us when we eloped without notice.
