What we’re Reading • River Walling Tom Brown’s Field Guide to Wilderness Survival by Tom Brown The author is “a man with a lot of a lot to teach and with experience to back it up. Where others have fallen short, his wilderness survival guide is very informative.” • Holly Keil Grief 2 Hope by Hope Reger “The story of a mother’s process in dealing with grief after the sudden death of her son. She shares the difficulties of going through everyday responsibilities while also managing grief. She also shares action steps you can do to help others going through the grief process as well. I found the book to be insightful and informative.” • Ashlyn Haddix Crank by Ellen Hopkins Crank is a true story about the author’s daugh- ter who battles with ad- diction while she is in high school. It is an incredibly unique novel that is writ- ten in a poetry format. And I highly recommend it. It is a page turner. • Martha Polinsky Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire The novel takes you on a fantastic journey that is not at all grounded in reality and I love it. Maguire creates an otherworldly culture, political climate, and history that is just plain fun to follow. It’s every- thing I want out of Oz that I didn’t know was missing.” She added, “I’m not a fan of the show nor do I expect to like the movie. • Ryan Tyree Vaesen by Nils Hintze A book based off of a Scandinavian folklore book, by Johan Eger- krans. It is an RPG [role playing game] manual; a visually rich world building manual that puts inclusivity and nar- rative design forward while staying true to its source material.
