Since 1901, the YSLA’s mission has been to promote awareness of and support library programs and circulation, and provide direct additional financial assist- ance for needs not normally covered in the library’s operating budget . What do I get for my membership, you might ask? Aside from feeling good about helping support our work, as a member you will receive a unique, personal invitation in the mail to our two annual teas as well as first choice for registering. Not sure if you’re already a member? You can find your membership expira- tion date on the Ex Libris mailing label. If you didn’t receive Ex Libris in the mail, you’re probably not a member. Write to us at yslibraryaccociation@gmail.com if you think we have your membership wrong and we’ll get it fixed. Join online! The grants can fund various programs and events that might include, but are not limited to, reading and writing skill develop- ment for K–12 students, adult literacy activities, parents and children reading together, English as a second language instruc- tion, and local, non-profit book groups. Project events should normally include five to ten par- ticipants and be open to any local resident. The grants are adminis- tered through the Yellow Springs Community Foundation. Applica- tion guidelines can be found at yscf.org . If you’re not affiliated with an established nonprofit or- ganization, the Foundation staff can advise you on ways to submit an application. Memberships expire annually on December 31; dues to renew are payable by January 31.
