THE RIDING CENTRE The Riding Centre is a nonprofit orga- nization that provides horse riding lessons for students ages eight and older, as well as horse boarding services, clinics and the Therapeutic Riding Program. The Riding Centre was founded by Louise Soelberg in 1959, and has been directed by Carolyn Bailey since Soelberg’s retirement in 1989. The Riding Centre carries a mission to provide affordable instruction and offers scholarships to students with financial need. Students come to the Riding Centre from diverse backgrounds, with varying levels of ability; all are welcome. The Riding Centre is located at 1117 East Hyde Road, and its grounds occupy 60 acres of land in Glen Helen Nature Pre- serve. Facilities include two barns, rolling pastures, a large outdoor ring, a lighted indoor ring, a cross-country hunt course, several wooded trails and outdoor shelters for the horses and stables. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pan- demic, the Riding Centre has reduced its class sizes, instituted physical distancing requirements and placed other restrictions on both students and instructors.
