FINN BLEDSOE PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Jessica and Matthew Bledsoe I haven’t always lived in YS, but that’s not how it feels to me. I moved to Yellow Springs when I was in sixth grade and I was a nervous wreck. I was leaving behind everything and everyone and I was very worried I wouldn’t be able to make new friends, but in reality I really shouldn’t have been. The first day of school, people were coming to me and talking to me, asking me to hang out, or trying to be my friend. I was immediately included and felt like I wasn’t the new kid at all. From there I made many great friendships that made middle school and high school an amazing experi- ence. When I then skipped a grade the same thing happened; I was included and reached out to. It never felt like I was an outcast; I always felt like I was supported, accepted and appreciated. My high school experience certainly wasn’t perfect, but the freemmemo- ries, connections and experiences I’ve had in Yellow Springs have had an enormous impact on my life. As a result of the pandemic, this year has been a mess for everyone — how- ever, even though this year did not go how I would have liked at all, I still feel I was extremely lucky for what I was able to do. I was still able to participate in sports and had successful seasons, I got to interact with my classmates and friends, and — even if for a very brief amount of time — I got to experience my senior year in person. Sports are perhaps the biggest thing that helped me still feel a part of the school, being able to represent my team and partici- pate in something directly related to the school kept my senior year alive. After graduation, I will be attending Berea College in Kentucky. I plan to either major in mechanical engineer- ing or computer science and plan to get my bachelor’s there and pursue further education elsewhere. KADEN BRYAN PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Brooke and Carl Bryan Shout-out to all the teachers and coaches who make YSHS enjoyable. WILLIAM BURK PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Angela and Benjamin Williams Throughout my time in high school, I have gotten As and Bs. I don’t want to take all the credit. If it wasn’t for my teachers, who have helped and sup- ported me along the way, I wouldn’t have made honor roll every quarter. When being compared to most places, Yellow Springs is a cool place to live. I say that because of the people who live here. Whenever you are in trouble they will help you. The thing that I like about YSHS is the teachers. All the teachers here in their own way are unique. This would be a good time to give some shout- outs. I would like to give a shout-out to Mrs. Weinstein for always brightening up my day when I am feeling down, and also for being such a nice person. I would also like to give a shout-out to Mr. McCoy. He has always been such a nice person to talk to, about random things — like, “Did you see the new episode of that show last night?” Whenever a teacher acts like these two, whatever you are feeling down or stressed about fades a little. I am a junior doing some extra classes online so I can graduate a year early. I am doing this for my future plans. I have signed up for the Army. I actually have a ship date to go to basic training. I am planing to have the Army be my career. I can't believe that my life has gone by so fast. If it wasn’t for the people in my life I would have never turned out the way I did. Thank you all, friends and family. HAILEY BURK PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Angela and Benjamin Williams Growing up in Yellow Springs these past five years has been great. I have meet so many great people and have made a lot of good friends. Coming to Yellow Springs High School has helped me overcome a lot. You know, I would not change anything about how things have gone these past five years I’ve been here. Even though it star ted out rough in the beginning, I was able to get through it and enjoy my four years of high school and I would not change that at all. After high school I will be going into the U.S. Army. While in the army, I still plan on going to college to get a degree for whatever I choose to do. After that I’m not sure, but whatever it is, I know for sure I will enjoy life and what it throws at me. STEPHAN BURKS No response submitted.
